High School: A three-year letterwinner for coach Mickey McMurtry at Lassiter High School as a pitcher, first baseman and outfielder....Rated as the No. 15 prospect in Georgia....As a sophomore, led Lassiter to the 2002 state championship by throwing two one-hitters in the playoffs....Went 11-1 with a 1.09 ERA in 2002, recording 98 strikeouts in 63.1 innings....Only pitched one inning as a senior, but hit .340 with three home runs while playing first base and the outfield....Returned to mound in the summer of 2004 with the East Cobb Yankees, posting a 4-0 record and a 1.32 ERA in 30 innings.
