Signed professional contract with the Atlanta Braves organization after being selected in the 17th round of the 1997 draft. Assigned to Eugene (Class A - Northwest League)...joined Class A Macon Braves for 1998 season....reassigned to extended Spring Training in June after posting 0-4 record....returned to Macon 6/29/98....did not pitch over final two months of 1998 season.

1997: Worked two scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves 2/27. Allowed just one hit while striking out Andruw Jones and getting Ryan Klesko to ground into a double play....struck out nine in 7.2 innings in beating Winthrop 4/8. Set down 14 straight hitters in one stretch during that game....fired 4.2 innings of scoreless relief while striking out eight of 16 Florida State batters faced 4/18....threw six strong innings as a starter to beat Duke 5/3.
