Transfer from Stanford University....Enrolled at Tech in Fall 2000 and spent junior season with Jackets....Hard-throwing right-hander who throws a "heavy" ball with an excellent fastball and hard slider....Turned down a $1 million dollar signing bonus from the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998, who had drafted him in the 13th round.

2002: Signed with Chicago White Sox for reported $385,000 bonus 1/14....assigned to Class A Kannapolis Intimidators of South Atlantic League and placed on disabled list....reassigned to Class A Bristol White Sox (Appalachian League) in June....placed on disabled list 7/25....reassigned to Arizona League White Sox in August.

2001: Named a third-team pre-season All-America by Baseball America....began season as Sunday starter in weekend rotation....gained victory in Tech debut 2/11 vs. Nebraska....picked up second win working four no-hit innings as a starter to beat Georgia State 4/4....overall duty limited by continuing stiffness and pain in right arm....as a result, did not pitch after May 8....drafted in 13th round (403rd overall) by Chicago White Sox....named to Dean's List for Spring Semester....also named to ACC Academic Honor Roll for 2000-2001....following season, announced plans to complete education at Stanford.

2000: Named a second-team pre-season All-America by Baseball America....once again worked as third starter in Stanford rotation compiling a 6-1 record with 5.18 earned run average....posted regular season victories against Cal State Fullerton, California, Santa Clara and San Francisco (combined shutout)....was hampered by a sore shoulder in the middle of the year, but recovered nicely to have a strong post season....went 2-0 with 3.46 ERA in post-season notching NCAA Regional and Super Regional-clinching wins over Alabama and Nebraska to help Cardinal to College World Series....not involved in decision in only CWS start 6/15 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette....only loss during season came in Stanford's 13-1 setback at Florida State 2/13 (4.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 0 SO, 1 WP, 1 BK).

1999: Named a Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball....Established himself as Stanford's third starter and finished the season with a 6-0 record and a 4.17 ERA in 19 appearances, including 14 starts....Garnered team's Most Valuable Freshman honors....Earned key 7-4 victory over Nevada in NCAA Regional on May 30, allowing just four hits and two earned runs over 7.2 innings....Was 4-0 with a 3.86 ERA in Pac-10 play (lowest conference ERA among the three Cardinal starters)....Benefited from excellent run support especially late in the season as Stanford scored 126 runs in his final 13 appearances (11.5 runs per game)....Named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week on April 5 after throwing a complete game three-hit shutout and striking out a career-high 12 against Washington State on April 3....Hurled 5.2 shutout innings at Texas on March 22....Allowed just four hits and one run over 8.0 innings in 13-5 triumph at California on April 25....Worked 8.1 innings and allowed just three earned runs in 14-4 victory May 16 at UCLA....Teammate of Brad Stockton on Cape Cod League champion Cotuit Kettleers going 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in five starts.

High School: 1998 graduate of Branford High School....Named a 1998 Pre-season Prep All-America by Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America....Earned post-season All-America honors from Baseball America (first team) and USA Today (second team)....Named the 1998 Gatorade Circle of Champions Connecticut High School Baseball Player of the Year....A two-time all-state selection....Went 11-0 with an 0.83 ERA and a whopping 115 strikeouts in 75 innings as a senior to lead Branford to the No. 1 ranking in the state and the State Class L Championships....Three-year starting center on Branford's basketball team...Finished third in the state in 1995 and fifth in 1996 in the National Spanish Exam...Magna Cum Laude in 1996 and Cum Laude in 1997 in the National Latin Exam...Graduated with a 3.897 GPA.
