WAKE FOREST TOPPLES TECH 14-4

ATLANTA - Cory Sullivan had four hits, including two home runs, and drove in a career-high six runs to lead Wake Forest (27-11, 11-7 ACC) to a 14-4 win over third -ranked Georgia Tech (29-10, 9-6 ACC) on Sunday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium in the rubber match of a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series.

Wake Forest starter Ryan Braun (3-0) picked up the win after holding the Yellow Jackets to four runs on five hits in seven innings of work. He walked four batters and fanned a career-best eight batters. Freshman Adam Hanson pitched two scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

Tech's Kevin Cameron (5-2) took the loss after surrendering eight runs in 2.2 innings.

The Demon Deacons scored eight runs in the first three innings to take early control of the game. Corey Slavik and Jamie D'Antona each had RBI hits in the first inning, while a three-run homer from Sullivan made the score 5-1 in the top of the second inning.

After Georgia Tech closed the gap to 5-3 with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, Wake Forest added three more runs in the top of the third to extend the Deacons' lead to 8-3. D'Antona led off the inning with a solo homer, his 10th of the year, while Jason Aquilante added a RBI groundout and Sullvan contributed a RBI single.

Sullvan led off the fifth inning with a solo homer, raising his total to seven for the season, to give Wake Forest a 9-4 lead. After Slavik scored on a balk, D'Antona added a RBI single to make the score 11-4.

Eight of the nine Wake Forest starters had at least one hit in the game, led by Sullivan's four-hit performance. D'Antona had three hits and three RBI, while Ryan Johnson, Matt Price and Stephen Ghutzman added two hits apiece.

Tech's Matt Murton had three hits, including his sixth homer of the year, while Brad Stockton also belted his sixth homer in a losing effort.

Georgia Tech will host Auburn on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Russ Chandler Stadium. The game will be broadcast on WREK Radio (91.1 FM in Atlanta).
