BAUTISTA'S TWO HOMERS POWER BRAVES PAST GEORGIA TECH, 15-5

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Danny Bautista belted two home runs and had five RBI, and Randall Simon cracked a two-run homer to power the Atlanta Braves past Georgia Tech, 15-5, in the Braves' exhibition opener Thursday at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

The win was the Braves' ninth in nine exhibition meetings with the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1977, and it was the highest scoring game ever between the two teams with each establishing series highs for runs.

The Braves broke on top with seven runs in the third inning, boosted by a pair of two-run doubles from Ozzie Guillen and Tony Graffanino. Homers by Bautista and Simon in the fourth gave the Braves an 11-0 lead.

Tech, the nation's 12th-ranked collegiate team, avoided its fourth shutout in the series by scoring five times in the seventh inning against Braves reliever Adrian Manzano. Mark Teixeira drove in two runs with a triple, following a run-scoring double by Jason Atha, a sacrifice fly by Jahmal Overton and an RBI-single from Richard Lewis.

Bautista hit his second homer, a three-run shot, in the seventh, and the Braves added an unearned run in the eighth. Graffanino finished the game with three hits and two RBI for Atlanta.

Luis Rivera, the second of six Braves pitchers, was credited with the win, while Tech starter Brad Busbin took the loss.
